In california there is a sex offender accused of taking a girl in the year 1991, and this guy kept this girl for 18 years. The girls name is Jaycee Dugard and she now suffers with mental illness, Phillip Garrido the guy that had taken this young girl claims he has now has been hearing sounds of angles for years now. The court claims that Phillip is a “ master manipulator” and thats what he does to his victims. Phillip and his wife Nancy are being charged with 29 charges. Jaycee was only 11 when she was kidnapped, she was found in the month of August and she was the age of 29, and the scary part is she was only 29 miles from her home. While Jaycee was living with Phillip and his wife she had taken on two children with Phillip. When they were found they didn’t know much at all, the children didn’t go to school, they lived off Tv dinners, and didn’t even know what Tv was, so when they were found they were all in a mental break down. The mother and grandmother of Jaycee and Jaycees children, said “ she didn’t know how to act neither know what to do” they all just took it very slow and one step at a time to get through this.
My opinion about this is, that what this man and wife had done to these poor children was wrong. No one deserves this type of life and if she was really only 29 miles from her house the police should at least of had some type of sign that she was still alive. This man should not only face 29 charges but should be put to the death sentence… but thats my opinion. He had ruined these girls life and affected not only them but their family’s as well.
McDonell, the governor of Virgina, wants April to be confederate history month. But, the NAACP does not agree with his decisions because he failed to mention slavery. “There were any number of aspects to that conflict between the states. Obviously, it involves slavery. It involved other issues. But, I focused on the ones that were most significant for Virginia.” McDonell said this in response when there was beginning conflict.
I believe it is extremely wrong that McDonell did not mention slavery because it was a big event that occurred during the Civil War. Slavery is what basically caused the war between the confederates and the union. The union was against slavery, and the confederates were not against it. Some of the pro’s of McDonell’s cause are: pride of standing up for cause. He is teaching history. His focus is on the Vets. There is only one con though, which is, he doesn’t represent slavery. I don’t understand why the vets were the only significant part of the civil war for Virginia. I believe slavery was the most significant part of it all. Thats what the war was mainly about. If anything, that should be the highlight of the whole confederate event McDonell is putting together.
